Owner Dusty Thomason started in the underground utility business in the summer of 1996. While having experience in many different areas of the underground industry, utility locating got in his blood and stayed there. Over the years, he saw the immediate need for private utility locating. In 2000, he began doing private locates for homeowners in his spare time and, eventually, Alabama Utility Protection Services evolved.
